SUR Just Signed Featured Band: You Me At Six

Photobucket

BIOGRAPHY: Having already conquered the UK and recently signing to Epitaph Records, you can expect to hear more from You Me At Six in the U.S. scene. This quintet who is comprised of guitartist Chris Miller, bassist Matt Barnes, vocalist Josh Franceshci, guitarist Max Helyer, and drummer Dan Flint, aren’t going anywhere soon, and are sure to make a smooth transition into becoming a house hold name with their pop rock songs that appeals to a broad audience. They’ve already toured with bands like Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, Angels & Airwaves, and more, as well as selling out their own headlining tours in their home country. After making their first appearance in America at SXSW, these guys are coming back to the states to play some dates on Warped Tour and take over the U.S. scene!

INTERVIEW:

Questions answered by You Me At Six’s vocalist, Josh Franceshci

So how did you guys get hooked up with Epitaph Records?

Brett Gurewitz was passed on our CD by our management and he seemed to be feeling it. We went out and met him and the team and it just felt right.

Did you have any other U.S. label offers? What was the deciding factor on choosing to sign with Epitaph?

There were a few other great labels who were interested, but we just felt that Epitaph really wanted this band. That and the relationship that they have with some of our friends’ bands like BMTH and Farewell, and that is so strong, all of our friends had nothing but good things to say about the label.

What do you think are some perks to being signed rather than unsigned?

I haven’t noticed anything yet! Maybe something will come along.

After experiencing your first show in America at SXSW, what are you expecting Warped Tour to be like?

Well our shows at SXSW were with some hardcore bands and indie bands, which was a little difficult. Playing a show with Gallows and BMTH was sweet though. Warped Tour will be a hard tour, but probably one of the best things we ever ever do. I can’t wait to hang with all the bands we know and meet all the people on the tour, whether it be the bands or the fans.

Do you plan to do more shows in the U.S. after Warped?

Yes, we’re coming back in the Fall for a few months, fingers crossed. Don’t know much more than that I am afraid.

You’ve already accomplished a lot as a band, but what are some of your future goals?

We really want to come over and try our luck in the States. Our thing is to have some fun, and if things go well then that’s a huge bonus.

What are some other UK bands you’d recommend our readers to listen to?

Umm All forgotten, Tonight Is Goodbye.

Can you give us one straight up random fact about each band member?

Dan = tough guy, will kill you in your sleep.
Matt = will complain until you kill yourself.
Chris = will kill you with silence.
Max = will kill you with his crazy antics.
Me = well, I’ll just kill you.

Any last words for the readers of Straight Up Random?

Come see us on WARPED TOUR, or… We’ll kill you.
