T.G.I.F. Featured Band: Anarbor

This weeks T.G.I.F. Featured Band is Anarbor. The band is getting ready to head out on the Once It Hits Your Lips Tour with The Friday Night Boys, and has been working on making a full-length album. Be sure to check Anarbor out on MySpace!

INTERVIEW:

How did the band come together?

We formed the band back when we were just 13-years-old and in middle school. We all just wanted to be in a band, but none of us could play any instruments. We gave it a shot and randomly chose our instruments - and we’re still a band more than 6 years later.

How’d you come up with your name?

Mike’s family is from Ann Arbor, MI - so we just changed it around and made it one word. I wish we had a cooler story, but that’s the truth.

What bands/artists are you influenced by?

We love bands like RX Bandits, Foo Fighters, Taking Back Sunday. Bob Marley and Third Eye Blind influence us as well.

How would you describe your music for people who have never heard it before?

We’re a rock & roll band. We play rock music.

What makes your band different from all the other ones out there?

We’re not trying to be something we’re not. We write all of our own music and don’t need to go to any big name co-writers just to try and pop out a single for MTV or radio. We write music - and if people happen to like it, then that’s great. If they don’t - then we’re still proud of what we’re doing and are having a great time. We play all of our instruments live - you’ll never hear a backing track on stage or auto-tune on our records. What you see is what you get and we think that’s what people need these days to take a step back from the current “scene” and find some real music.
