THE CAB BIO: After being scouted by Panic At The Disco’s Spencer Smith, The Cab were soon welcomed to the Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance family. From there they recorded their debut album Whisper War, and have been touring non-stop. Their fan base has been growing exponentially and they have received recognition from many media outlets such as Alternative Press and Blender. This summer they will be embarking on a headlining tour called The What Happens In Vegas… Tour as well as releasing another CD titled What Happens In Vegas…

INTERVIEW:

How do you like Bamboozle Roadshow so far?

I love it. It’s our sixth tour with We The Kings, our second with Forever The Sickest Kids; the two bands NeverShoutNever and Mercy who we’ve never toured together with actually have become really good friends of ours as well. So I mean this whole entire tour is just awesome.

So do you have any city you’re looking forward to playing?

Chicago and New York City. I always love going to both of those places.

Any reason why?

I just like the vibe I guess. Like the enclosed city and the too many people, the cursing and yelling and fighting. I think that’s what attracts me to those cities.

So as you said before, you’ve toured with We The Kings. How has that tour, the Secret Valentine Tour, been different from this one?

Definitely I think bigger. I mean, we did their last headliner with them, and then you know, took a couple weeks off and came back out, and it’s cool because we’re seeing the same kids from that tour plus more, which is never a band thing.

Was it an easy transition to go from that [Secret Valentine Tour] tour to this one?

Yea. Because it wasn’t like with We The Kings a big “Goodbye man, see you in a while!,” just like “Yea dude, see you in two weeks. Alrigh later.”

**So you guys are going to be embarking on a headlining tour, and you had fans submit tour names. Can you reveal to us what the tour name is?

No. [laughs]

Can you give us a hint?

No. We gotta keep some surprises for people you know. We can’t just tell everything we do.

When exactly will the tour take place?

Ummmm….soon.

Like summer soon?

Soon enough.

You’re going to be playing Hoodwinked after this and you’re covering Queen. Did you get to choose what band you got to cover?

Yea, we did and we thought our band has a little bit of iPod and whatnot, and I think we wanted to do something, no click track, no nothing, just straight up play music. And what better way to express, you know, rock & roll with one of the classics, Queen. We actually did it in California already, but this one’s kind of the bigger one so we’re excited fo it.

So, have you guys been writing any new material?

Always. We were writing new material before our first record was even out. I mean, yea, we’re going to keep writing and release some stuff, and I don’t know, we just got secrets coming all around, but we’re not going to tell any of them.

How does the writing process take place for you?

There’s certain steps, and it’s a band, you know, certain people do their certain parts, and then hopefully by the end everyone’s part turns into a full song.

There’s was a snippet of a new song posted on a blog. Can you give us more details?

Nope. But you can tell them to check it out though.

How do you feel about the boy band comparisons?

Honestly I don’t care because I mean, Nsync did like what, 40 million records total, and Backstreet Boys like 30 million total. Just name all those bands, think of every pop band in your head and think about how many records they sold, like why is that a bad thing to be compared to that? I mean, just because our singer sounds like he could’ve been in one of those bands, doesn’t mean we are, and people won’t get that until they come to a show.

So what’s next for you guys?

Who knows. I mean, we obviously want to tour more, write more. We just want to keep the progress of our band going and hopefully keep the hype up and people coming back. You never want people to not come back, you want them to come back and keep coming back. That’s our goal.

Can you give us one straight up random fact about each member?

Alex Marshall, he kind of looks like Zac Efron, his movie’s coming out soon, “17 Again.” Which by the way, Zac Efron is not 17, I don’t know why they didn’t say “20 Again,” or however old he is now.

Alex DeLeon has an over obsession with mountain dew.

Alex Johnson, he’s quiet and humble, but you know, he’s a great guy.

And Ian is just all over the place. He’s great, I mean, he plays guitar, and kicks it. They’re four of my best friends, there’s nothing else I can really say about them.

What about yourself?

I have a tattoo on my chest that says “Thirtizzle,” and then there’s actually a thirtizzle.com based off of that.

When did you get that [tatoo]?

I got this before we started touring or anything, and it’s kind of stuck with me ever since.

What was the meaning behind it?

We had just gotten signed and I was at a tattoo parlor with actually, who’s become a great friend of mine, Brendan, from Panic At The Disco. And, he basically said “you won’t get it,” and I thought of the most ridiculous word on Friday the 13th, and “Thirtizzle” popped out and I got it tatted on me. He payed, so it doesn’t matter. You know, I do stuff like that for memories, as you can tell, I have plenty of tats. They all mean something to me, but I don’t really care what anyone else thinks about them.

Any last words for the readers of Straight Up Random?

Listen to us, and if you haven’t, hopefully you hook it up with a myspace link, or anything like that, and since you personally interviewed me, and nobody else, you have to tell them to check out Thirtizzle.com. T-H-I-R-T-I-Z-Z-L-E-DOT-C-O-M !

**They announced their headlining tour which will be called The What Happens In Vegas…Tour.
